Welcome to Dragon's Gate!
This website is dedicated to the practice of health, wellness, and healing as viewed from an Eastern perspective. This perspective was born, cultivated, and refined in one of the world's great civilizations — China! Now, a word about our name, Dragon's Gate. In China dragons are thought to be benevolent creatures and are held with awe and respect. The most powerful sign of the Chinese zodiac, these mythical beings dwell in the heavens and command the forces of nature. Dragons are charismatic, intelligent and powerful. Dragons are also dynamic, creative, confident, and enthusiastic. They are believed to carry with them powerful healing abilities. So, here's to the Dragon and the healer in you.
In China, acupuncture points are known as "gates." These gates are very much like the common gates of the English language. When functioning properly, they allow easy entry and exit. In the case of Chinese medicine, these gates allow for the smooth movement of energy — known in China as qi (or chi, and pronounced "chee"). Qi is also translated as breath, life-force, or potential. Just as a physical gate must remain free of rust and impingement, so too the energy gates of the body/mind/spirit. For without smooth movement, illness will soon follow.
So again, welcome to Dragon's Gate... now, let's go inside.
